Hiking Highlight
Good view from the mountain to the foothills of the Alps, as it is one of the northernmost mountains of the Alps in Bavaria.
On good days you can even see Munich ...

The ghosts argue about the name "Farrenpoint". In Bavarian-Austrian, a "point" is a small Gütler estate or a fenced hallway. So far so good. It is more difficult with the word component "bullock". This could indicate either young bulls or ferns (duden.de/suchen/dudenonline/Farre). So we either have a young bull or a fern pasture. Be that as it may, if you leave the length of the forest road aside, it is a pleasant ascent from Bad Feilnbach to the Farrenpoint summit. The alpine landscape around the summit and the Huberalm is beautiful and the views to the north and south are very rewarding.
Next to the summit cross there is also a trigonometric point of the Institute for Geodesy of the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich. In addition to the exact latitude, longitude and altitude (47 ° 44'36 "N 12 ° 02'07" E, 1274.30 m), the distance to the north tower of the Munich Frauenkirche is given: 55.926 km.

Great all-round view from the summit of Farrenpoint: the view to the north becomes even more comprehensive if you hold 100m on the left edge of the slope on the descent: into the Rosenheim basin with Sterntaler Filze, Inn and Simssee, the Chiemsee in the distance. If you turn south, you can enjoy the view of the Zillertaler, Großglockner, Wilder and Zahmer Kaiser, Petersbergerl (if the sun is just setting the scene for the church), Heuberg, Hochries and the narrow Zapferl of the Kampenwand, very close to the right on the north side of the Wendelstein and Breitenstein. The wide alpine meadow invites you to spread the picnic blanket ...

Farrenpoint is signposted from the Oberes Jenbachtal hiking car park with a 1 3/4-hour walk. That works out fine. BUT: This is not a family hike with small kids, from this starting point! It is sometimes extremely steep uphill, on really rough or loose ground. Already not feasible with the MTB.

The Nigglsteig is missing in our tour, wiel the battery was over. On the street after it was (according to signpost) still 20 minutes to the starting point upper Jenbachparkplatz.
