The Isar, a wild river, is still allowed to shape its own river bed south of Munich. This natural area with its islands is a breeding ground for rare birds. The adjacent Schneeheide-Föhren forests are also home to many endangered plants. The Marien-Frauenschuh is particularly worth mentioning here, gentians and daphne also feel at home here.

The Isar meadows are wonderful areas for hiking or walking. But now in the spring, the many birds that breed there should not be disturbed if possible. Better shift the activities to the areas between Bad Tölz and Lenggries. On the left side of the Isar (i.e. near Wackersberg/Arzbach) the floodplains of the Isar are more clearly demarcated. And the view of Brauneck and other peaks makes up for the restrictions. Tip: combines the 10km hike along the Isar with ice cream in Tölz or Lenggries and the way back with the Bavarian Oberlandbahn.
