Tips

  • There are two stamp boxes directly opposite the monastery hotel. The red one is a special stamp on the Harzer Klosterwanderweg (approx. 95 km length) between the two world heritage sites Goslar and Quedlinburg.
The second stamp is the 29th stamp station of the leisure stamp pass for the northern Harz foreland "Klostergut Wöltingerode", known and preferred as a destination for excursions and as a conference venue. The almost one kilometer long monastery wall, old trees, the lovingly tended green areas and flower beds as well as the well-preserved buildings convey the feeling of how monastery life must have been in the past centuries. • After a long bike tour (195 km in one day) I returned to the monastery hotel.
What I saw there was a joke!
Booked the hotel online via booking.com. Booking confirmation received after entering your credit card number.
After such a long mom tour I was of course looking forward to a nice hotel, according to the internet review.
Received key at reception, but what I found was a dirty room, beds rumbled by previous guest, bathroom not cleaned.
Back to reception. There I got the answer so literally .. "You would have better not booked through Booking .. We don't have another room either, only one that is a good 100 euros more expensive .."
    Felt completely ripped off.
Fortunately, in this Monet, the hotel manager came and disciplined the young lady from reception. So I got the room for the booking fee of almost 70 euros.
In this room, which actually cost more than 160 euros, the wash basin was clogged, the soap dispenser in the shower was empty and the lampshades on the bed and the floor lamp were broken and looked like bulky waste!
The hotel does not have its own restaurant, this is located on the grounds of the monastery courtyard.
Food very good there. Delicious steak, as ordered, to the point.
21:30 left the restaurant. Receptionist and hotel locked and everything dark.

No advice in advance how to get to the hotel!
Couldn't find another entrance at first either.
Only when I walked around the hotel several times in the dark, saw me sleeping outside on a bench, did I find a night entrance.
My bike was also locked, for which I had no keys, otherwise I would have been gone despite the darkness and tiredness!
The breakfast was very well stocked and very nice and courteous service.

Nevertheless. There won't be a second stay there!
