As a replacement for a half-timbered church from 1740, the double-aisled brick church was built in 1900/1901 in a very short construction time according to a design by Robert Beutler, a building councilor from Cottbus. The church has Gothic forms. The hall with two aisles is remarkable and rare. The ribbed vaults bear slender granite columns in the central axis of the room. The vaulted ribs and the window reveals are brick-sighted. The high church tower with a hipped roof and slender lantern was to be blown up by the German army in 1945 so that it was not a target for the Soviet artillery. During the demolition, the tower stopped, however, the tower lantern was badly damaged and the Sauer organ was completely destroyed.
Except for the organ, the interior is original. In 1999 the church received an organ again. The instrument was built in 1939 as a house organ for the Berlin baker Erich Dahm by the Bavarian organ construction company Steinmeyer and given to Heinersbrück by Erich Dahm's heirs as a gift.
