The geological and hydrological nature trail was developed as part of the project WasserWege der NaturFreunde NRW with the NaturFreunde Solingen Theegarten. Most of it is located on the Willi-Lohbach-Weg, a nature and local nature trail with a focus on geology of the Rhenish Slate Mountains. It was the first geological nature trail in Germany.

The path is a designated geological educational trail and is dedicated to the geology of the Rhenish Slate Mountains. It offers the opportunity to gain natural history and cultural-historical insights into the development of the Bergisches Land during a relaxing hike through the Wupperberge.

The path along the Wupper does not lack the charm of a riverside path. The "sculptures" may well have been meant didactically, but aesthetically I find them somewhat intrusive.
