The landscape here is similar to that in the Kleinziegenfeld valley, only without rocks. The trench-like depressions are interesting. But I don't know if they are from World War I or World War II.

More like World War I, as it was reported on in a book about Bayreuth's geology as early as 1930. A friend said that, according to her mother, trenches were "practiced" there by the Bayreuth-based soldiers' battalions.
