"Metelen has something" - the historic parish church, the burgher's house and "Plagemann's mill with the museum and the newly built fish ladder invite you to visit. The Vechte flows right through the middle of the community and the Vechtetal route to the Netherlands and the Aa-Vechte Tour lead along it. Both tours lead along farm roads, far away from busy roads, but also on "rustic paths" through the typical Münsterland park landscape with its unspoilt floodplains, fields, meadows and beautiful farms."
