On the Kyll cycle path near Gerolstein, below the Kasselburg, you will find a signpost and a picture board that indicate a monument. This is a bit off the path, directly on the railway line to Trier. The red sandstone memorial commemorates a railway accident that claimed ten lives in the night of May 18-19, 1897 and celebrated its 120th anniversary in 2017. It was mainly soldiers who fell victim to this event.
