The Vilsalpsee is one of the most beautiful mountain lakes in Tyrol. On the eastern bank, cows graze on meadow slopes, at the southern end steep limestone walls tower up and offer a clear view of the imposing, 400-meter-high Bergaicht waterfall.
Due to its altitude at 1165 meters and the low water temperatures, the Vilsalpsee offers only a few fish habitats.
The Vilsalpe, the Gasthof Vilsalpsee and the Fischerstube invite you to rest. A circular lake hike is not possible due to the risk of falling rocks. The eastern bank is closed. A popular and highly recommended mountain hike leads from the Vilsalpsee to the Landsberger Hut (1805 meters). The approximately three-hour tour includes all altitude levels and habitats in the nature reserve.
