The fruit tree museum is a project of the "Schutzgemeinschaft Deutscher Wald", in which in 2008 selected 49 trees were planted. As a kind of alternative to the now "on every corner existing" orchards on which new, optimized on yield fruit varieties are planted, the fruit tree museum will help to protect old varieties on the selected plot - because only old Westphalian fruits were planted here.Less than a place of rest and relaxation - seating looks for the visitor here in vain - the planting just as you can see the name can have museum character. Especially that school classes come here and get to know other types of fruit than in the supermarket shelf - and ideally come here several times to experience the annual cycles of the fruit trees, the founders wish. Display boards explain all sorts of things about the Westphalian varieties. Picking, according to the founders, is reserved for the sponsors. The consumption of already fallen fruit seems to be allowed, or at least tolerated. The fruit tree museum is definitely worth a visit, and when the shepherd grazes his animals, sometimes you can even catch a glimpse of one or two lambs.
