Hiking
The municipality's own quarries at the Kalkofen and Kalkhecke were first mentioned in 1277 and only closed in 1920. For centuries they supplied the stones for building what is now the historic town center.
The quarry on the Kalkhecke has been under nature protection since 1970 and is known for its variety of plants.
A third quarry belonged to the Counts of Hanau. The working conditions of the stone crushers were dangerous and difficult, the social situation bad.
