The aim of the “WupperVielfalt” project was to convey the key charms of the landscape, such as the animal and plant species, the habitats, the relationship between historical components of the landscape (e.g. the old industry) and the habitats, and to make them tangible. The project built on the infrastructure created as part of the Regionale2010 project Wasserquintett: the railway cycle path, the bird watching station in Wipperfürth-Leiersmühle, the Auenpark in Hückeswagen and the base station Wasserquintett form the heart of the (natural) tourism infrastructure of the project area. The central element of the mediation is an exhibition in the water quintet base station. The exhibition room doubles as an event location and a meeting point for excursions. In the immediate vicinity, renatured areas of the Wupper and a viewing platform offer the ideal space for nature excursions. Information boards, especially along the railway cycle path, inform interested visitors visually and interactively about nature along the route. Audio guides provide additional background information. biostationoberberg.de/wuppervielfalt.html
