The main route of the signposted Este Hiking Trail runs from Bötersheim to Buxtehude and is approximately 26 kilometers long. Additional, also signposted alternative routes allow hikers to explore the Este Valley on circular trails. These alternative routes offer a total of more than 60 kilometers of hiking through an attractive and diverse river landscape. Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy the nature on both sides of the river on mostly narrow paths. Since 2018, the entire Este Valley has been a nature reserve, so all activities must comply with local nature conservation regulations.
