A certain Berengar von Rückersdorf established a civil service headquarters in Behringersdorf in 1243. The place was owned by the burgraves of Nuremberg. The marriage was granted to the counts of Nassau. In 1319 they sold the village to the Schürstab family. In 1514 the place fell to the patrician family Tucher.
In the course of the municipal area reform, the then independent municipality of Behringersdorf was incorporated into Schwaig on May 15, 1976.
