There is a memorial stone on the way to commemorate the inmates of the Wittmoor concentration camp, the first concentration camp in Hamburg. The men, who were mainly imprisoned for political reasons, had to work in peat mining from April 1933. In October 1933, the Nazis had the concentration camp completely cleared and the prisoners were transferred to the Fuhlsbüttel concentration camp.
Such sites and the related events must not be forgotten.
