Next to the imposing Hedwig oak there is a refuge at a crossroads, which is maintained by Wanderfreunden Boppard e.V. There is another rest bench in front of the hut.
The oak was named after Hedwig Humperdinck (wife of VVV * member Engelbert Humperdinck).Source: baumkunde.de/baumregister/8129-hedwigseiche_bei_boppard
*) VVV = Traffic and Beautification Association Boppard 1872 e.V.Maybe interesting for long tours:
The floor of the hut is covered with wood, so neither concrete, gravel nor mud. In addition, a central and several free-standing outer posts offer lashing options for hammocks.

The Hedwig oak is not the angel oak. This stands in a different place and is named after Engelbert Humperdinck, the composer of the fairy tale operas "Hansel and Gretel" and "Königskinder".
