I received a visit from Germany from Jule and Marwin and wanted to show them both the most beautiful or the most famous (Äscher, Schäfler) in the Alpstein as quickly as possible. Since they were on the Säntis the day before, I did not want to challenge them too much and have planned a somewhat larger incline (steep path to the Schäfler).
All in all a successful tour that is easy to manage (gross: 4 hours). The steep path is also easily manageable if you always turn your gaze towards the slope side. ;-)
Weather did well ... one or the other cloud could have stayed away, but it was also interesting to have direct contact with them.

The first warm temperatures this year had to be used. Caught my father and took a little walk. Although the lap is only an hour's drive from us, my father has never been here and I have only been here twice. Very pleasant ups and downs. The paths were sometimes very muddy, but what do you expect after the snow?Great area and we both agreed: it wasn't our last time there.

After I met on 04.10. (komoot.de/tour/268781216) and did not get past the Meglisalp, today we start where I last stopped: at the Mesmer. There I strengthen myself and then it goes over the Ägeteplatte over to the Meglisalp. My plan works: on the north side I have light snow on the north side during the ascent and on the south side a dry path during the descent. No slipping away! :-)From there far over the Seealpsee back to Wasserauen.Tiring but great route peppered with plenty of great views.

With a touch of youthful madness, the idea was born this week to hike over 2000m. For this very reason, I did not take the cable car, but took the entire route without aids. The aim was to exceed the 2000m on the Öhrli. Before I even reached the tourist stronghold of Äscher, I was completely sweaty for the first time. Then it goes up to the Schäfler, sweating. I'm already surprised by the great views on the way. I still have great respect for heights. I notice this briefly on the Schäfler Höhenweg. Then finally the climb to the Öhrli. Hmm, up close, the Öhrli isn't a -li at all, but rather large. It goes steadily uphill over thin snow fields and then the 2160m altitude was reached.A strong wind was blowing against me on the Hochnederisattel. Behind it it got worse: the piece, which is called "beautiful climbing", turned out to be a risk: everything was snow-covered and the snow fell when you stepped on it. Stupid: you can't see what's hidden under the snow and there were deep holes and crevices in the rock. That's why I have to take the path where I always see solid ground. Unfortunately, this is not always the easiest and shortest route. Very exhausting. For this reason, the shortest route from Mesmer back to Wasserauen. Conclusion: good feeling to have passed the 2000, but clearly taken over. The last 4 km are just torture.
