The north winder must be crossed if e.g. from Burg to Straupitz. The road is nice to drive on (very little traffic).

The north flood is the reason why the Straupitzer Kahnfahrt is separated from the rest of the Spreewald. When the trench was built in the 1970s, the old locks were not repaired. Since then, Straupitz no longer has a lock connection to the Spreewald. And it is all the quieter and quieter there now.
