One of the many curiosities in the Heidelberg Forest. If you are here anyway it is definitely worth a detour. It's a strange feeling to know (or read on the information sign next to it) that people used to cut millstones here in the freezing cold. Most likely in the cold season because the stones were easier to transport. A piece of history you can touch.

According to the information board, there should be over 100 such millstones. I only saw the one next to the board - but I didn't look at the other boulders so closely.

Hiking

A real highlight very close to the rest area. You think about some interesting questions (also for children): Where do millstones come from? Do these wear out? How was that with the mill culture in the front Odenwald? The visit can be easily combined with another highlight: the Felsenmeer in Reichenbach. There, too, there are ready-hewn stones (so that you don't have to transport even more weight), you can ask yourself what stones were used for and find a bridge to the Ice Age.
