Bike Touring Highlight
Much of the hilly area of Reggello is characterized by well-kept terraced crops with vineyards and olive groves, present since the 14th century. The olive tree, a fundamental crop of this area, is a characterizing element of the territory and deeply marks its landscape. The land of these places produces an excellent wine and an oil renowned for its low acidity and particular organoleptic characteristics, due to the height of the olive groves (300 m) and the peculiarity of the land. It is a fairly unique terrain in Tuscany, with a very low limestone content and a high quartz content. The plants are mostly frantoio and leccino, but there is no shortage of morellino and pendolino. Every year in Reggello, in November, the Review of Extra Virgin Olive Oil is held. There are numerous farms that directly produce and sell the precious extra virgin olive oil of Reggello Toscano PGI, obtained by pressing with both traditional and modern methods, in the various mills in the area.FROM THE MUNICIPAL WEBSITE
