Beautiful ruin with a great all-round view from the (rebuilt) keep. Especially nice during the castle summer with a medieval market. But there is a tiny pub called Burgschenke there all year round.

Hiking
Kirkel Castle adorned this square on the Hirschberg even before 1075. The castle is best known for the Middle Ages market, which has been taking place since 1999. The castle association also takes care of maintenance and other events with a certain amount of dedication: kirkeler-burg.de.
