In Moritzdorf on the island of Rügen it says: "ferryman, get over"!
The shortest ferry service in northern Germany is not maintained by large ferries and machine power, but by a rowing boat, which can accommodate up to 15 people.
Ferry Moritzdorf Ferry Moritzdorf only with muscle strength, the ferryman puts people on the Baaber Bek of Moritzdorf in the Baltic resort Baabe over. Hikers and cyclists, who are traveling between the villages of Moritzdorf and Baabe, like to use the ferry service, because they save about eight kilometers way around the Selliner Lake around - or makes the ferry a round trip only possible. The ferryman also heaves his rowboat in the pushchair and brings it safely to the other side.
Ferry Moritzdorf Ferry Moritzdorf The tradition of Moritzdorfer ferry goes back to 1891. At that time a rowing ferry was first put into operation in the small town. In the summer months, the almost 50-meter short stretch between the two berths is covered daily up to a hundred times.
Ferry Moritzdorf Ferry Moritzdorf The small ferry is in operation all year round - as long as the weather permits.
    "Ferryman, get over!"

Or in a large "Radlerandrang" the somewhat larger motorized boat is used.

The ferryman also has a motorboat with which he crosses the 5 meters over the Baaber Bek between Baabe and Moritzdorf. It is still very funny and has something incredibly touching - like from another time. Apart from that, it saves the detour to the Selliner See.
The crossing costs 1 euro per person and 1 euro per bike (August 2018).

Very funny, short passenger and bicycle ferry across the Baaber Bek. Although the website says that the ferryman drives back and forth, he also has a small motorized ferry. The crossing costs 1 € per person and 1 € per bike (Aug. 2018).

It is actually rowed. That makes the ferryman for a long time. It costs 1 € per person and 1 € per bike.

In August we translated several times.
The rowboat "Kai-Uwe" was on the jetty. The ferryman used the motorboat, which did not detract from the feeling in any way.
    It is always an experience.
The price per person 1, - € plus 1, - € per bike. By the way, e-bikes cost 2, - €, which I liked to pay with tips.

With the help of the small ferry, which leads over the Baaber gutter, one can drive a small round about the Selliner way. The ferry operates all year round except for the months of January and February.
