Nice and relatively hidden, so very quiet. Tip: on the eastern shore there are delicious ice cream in the summer

The Bramfeld Lake is right next to the Ohlsdorf Cemetery and is one of the local recreation areas in Bramfeld. Here many go jogging, walking or eat an ice cream or grilled sausages from the ice cream truck, which stands daily next to the entrance to the cemetery.

In winter there is also mulled wine.

The lake itself is easy to walk around and the small island where birds nest, especially herons, is pretty.

The Bramfelder See lies exactly on the border between the districts of Hamburg Nord and Wandsbek. It borders to the north on the Ohlsdorf Cemetery, which has gained notoriety as one of the largest park cemeteries in the world, and is not far from Hamburg Airport. Although there are only a few green corners in the Steilshoop district, the Bramfeld Lake is a particularly beautiful one. An additional plus is that the green oasis in the north-east of Hamburg is less frequented by visitors compared to the city park, which is only a few kilometers away. Numerous pedestrians and athletes use the route around the lake for a relaxed walk or a jog. The circular route is 2.9 kilometers long, so the walk around Lake Bramfeld takes about half an hour. Local residents affectionately call their lake "Brami" and use the visit around its shore to take a break from everyday city life. To the west of the lake there is a large playground for the little ones and a barbecue area offers the opportunity for a barbecue evening with friends in summer. From the west to the east bank, Lake Bramfeld is 1.2 kilometers long, but is only 400 meters wide and at its narrowest point from the north to the south bank only 100 meters. The maximum depth of Lake Bramfeld is three meters and there are four islands in the lake that have been declared a nature reserve. With a bit of luck, you can also see gray herons on the bank, which have nested there for several years to breed.
