According to legend, farmers from Hellenhausen built the chapel. This was originally supposed to be done on site, but the timber was dragged into the open area twice in a row. The peasants saw it as a hint from God. The chapel was built in the headwaters of the Köllerbach. 1735 was the date in the keystone above the portal. In 1806 they wanted to sell the chapel, nobody wanted it. It lay in a deep slumber until 1971, showed considerable defects and was demolished. In 1990, with a lot of personal work, today's chapel was built on the old plan.
