The church was built in the second half of the 13th century, initially as a hall church without a tower. This was only added in 1731. The last service was celebrated in 1958 and since then the church has been empty. From 2008 the church was renovated on the initiative of the parish church council, with a lot of volunteer work and financed through extensive donations and funding, and a use as an event location was made possible. In the church there is a wooden baptismal angel from the 18th century. The Malchower Labyrinth Park is located in the vicinity of the church. Following the Chartres Cathedral, the church was included in the design of the park and the floor was covered with a star labyrinth with a six-pointed star in the center.
