The sedan monument was erected in memory of a ceremonial field fair and a parade held by the royal infantry regiment with the local veterans and warriors' association on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the "glorious Sedan Days 1870". This festival had taken place on September 1, 1895, and is still remembered today by the Sedand monument.
