The Geiersbergkirche is surrounded by water with fountains and streams.

The beneficial power of spring water may have given this place a special meaning since ancient times.

The current church building dates from 1486 and was built as a pilgrimage church for the image of the Virgin Mary dated around 1400. The pilgrimage to the Geiersberg was well known and only gradually decreased in the 19th century.

The spring water played an important role in the pilgrimage belief.

At the five-wound fountain, which stands to the right of the Geiersberg church, the water flowed from the stigmata of Christ. It was believed that it was beneficial to drink or

to wash with it. The fountain figures date from the first half of the 17th century.
