Stones exert a magical attraction on children. They glitter, have a different consistency depending on the type of rock, and real treasures can be unearthed with a hammer and brush. In order to do justice to the rock detectives' urge to research, the Gerolsteiner Land tourist information office lends rucksacks with hammer, protective goggles and brushes for a fee of € 5.00 / rucksack. Ideal for families with children who love stones.
In addition to the looted stones, the young researchers receive a research diploma when they return their rucksacks.
The four main types of rock in the Volcanic Eifel: basalt, limestone, sandstone and dolomite from active quarries in the region were brought together on the Geoacker to give children the opportunity to get to know the various rocks to their hearts' content by hammering, crumbling and / or breaking apart.
