If you want to extend the tour, here is an alternative. From the Mare you can also hike over the ridge to the Schibe (without trail markings, just along the ridge). From the Schibe, a visible path leads south to the Homad alpine hut, from where there is a marked mountain hiking trail back to the Chänelpass.
