The Leubnitz-Neuostra village church is one of the oldest churches in Dresden, and one of the rare pictorial churches in Germany.

The Leubnitz-Neuostra church, one of the oldest and most beautiful churches in the city, combines architectural styles from Baroque to Romanesque. The tower dates back to 1170. In the Middle Ages, its interior could only be reached via a ladder. A church in Leubnitz was mentioned in writing as early as 1233, but it is only definitely documented in the documents from 1288. Margravine Elisabeth von Maltitz donated her property in Leubnitz to the Altzella monastery near Nossen. A monastery was built, which the Zellesche Weg still reminds of today. In 1550 the village was nationalized again by Elector Moritz. The paintings on the coffered ceiling, the old tombstones with their moving inscriptions in the outside area and the angel figures from the 17th century are particularly worth seeing. The famous farmer astronomer Johann Georg Palitzsch is also buried in the cemetery. Behind the church, a path leads down the mountain through a small sandstone gate to the Angel and Devil's Bridge over the Koitzschgraben. The Devil's Bridge, the shortest bridge in Dresden, was built from a single block of sandstone in the 15th century.

        Oldest church in Dresden.

The Evangelical Lutheran Church Leubnitz-Neuostra is a sacred building in the Dresden district of Leubnitz-Neuostra. It is one of the oldest churches in the city and as a "picture church" is unique in the Dresden area. The church combines architectural styles from Romanesque to Baroque and is therefore considered one of the most attractive churches in Dresden in terms of style history.
