Best Hikes to Water Tower Grube Carl (Frechen)

Tips

  • The striking brick building with its steel water tank was built in 1906 in the Grube Carl district of Frechen (on the site of the former Grube Carl mine and briquette factory) as a drinking water reservoir and put into operation in 1909. Today it is privately owned and used as an exceptional living space.
With its exposed position on the hilltop, which towers above Frechen on the Rhenish central terrace, it is a landmark in the city area that can be seen from afar and is one of the symbols of the city of Frechen. Source: kuladig.de/Object-View/O-58841-20130102-7
