Until the 1930s there was a little natural wonder in Undeloh. The pond, which was called "Hungerpohl", because it was completely waterless during constant rainy weather, but was full of clear water when it was very dry. The merchants are said to have based their trade on the water level of the Undeloher Hungepohl. A full pond had the consequence that the sale of grain was held back because the merchants definitely expected prices to rise.

Pond, called Hungerpohl, which was called a miracle. Charlemagne is said to have visited the pond and it was sacred to the Lombards. The Hungerpohl prophesied by its water level whether dry or rainy times were coming: if rainy times announced themselves, the pond would dry up. In dry times it overflowed and let its water run through Undeloh.lueneburger-heide.de/service/artikel/6693/undeloh-hungerpohl-lueneburg.html

Interesting history that doesn't exist. Now I've been living in the district for over 30 years, but I've only heard about it now. You just never stop learning.
