The Stern hunting lodge was built between 1730 and 1732 under the soldier king Friedrich Wilhelm I in the style of a simple Dutch town house. When it was built, the building, which was only designed for hunting stays, was the focus of a large area that has been developed since 1726 with the creation of a star-shaped system of blades for parforce hunts. The area redesigned for this chase was given the name Parforceheide.
