The Solitude Allee was built between 1764 and 1767 as the shortest connection between the Solitude Castle and the Ludwigsburg Castle by Duke Karl Eugen. The avenue has served since 1819 as a baseline of the Württemberg Land Surveying. The avenue is exactly 13032.7 meters long.

Hiking

The Solitude Avenue, established in 1768 as a connecting axis between Solitude Palace and Ludwigsburg, served as the baseline for the Württemberg State Survey from 1820 onwards. Today, the avenue no longer exists in all locations, but a fairly long stretch of this straight road axis can still be found between Kallenberg and Stammheim.
