Bike Touring Highlight
The Überseestadt in Bremen is since 2009 a district of the district Walle. At the same time, "Überseestadt" is the name of an urban development project of the old port areas in Bremen that is being implemented in the sense of designing a modern waterfront. The project envisages a long-term development of the old port area to an attractive location for entrepreneurial activities that are as valuable as possible. It is about inventory development to the same extent as the location of new services, commerce and housing.
As part of the overseas city of Bremen, the Europahafen has changed. Today no cargo ships stop here. For that the storehouses, along the quay, have been rebuilt. They house innumerable restaurants and cafes. The Buffkaje invites you to stroll. In the summer months there are many events taking place here. If the Bremer Schlachte is too full, you should take a look at this secret tip.
Here, music, theater, talks and shows alternate - a "crossover project", as the makers themselves call it. The operation is run by freelancers and artists, the bar is built from old parts, the program is a mixture of the stories of the old port in Bremen-Walle and the modern, new Überseestadt.
Incidentally, "Golden City" was also the name of a legendary club in the working-class district of Walle. From 1947 to 1975 sailors from around the world celebrated wild parties here.
My personal favorite is the "Lokalrunden - Singing without notes with RamonaRamonRammé". Everyone here, whether singing or not, guided by the artists, songs by ABBA, Lale Andersen, Hildegard Kneef, etc ..
The Golden City is temporary - so it's only open 3 months a year. Look at the website before your visit!
