The Chapel of the Painful Mother of God on the L211 was built in 1946. On the initiative of Peter Malmen helped some Koblenz families, out of gratitude for the salvation of great war, in the realization of the building. Local craft enterprises put the construction on the property of the Fam. Ritt into action.
The Pieta is a work of Eugen Keller and was inaugurated together with the chapel on 29.06.1946 by Dechant Alles. She rests on a wooden base, on which a poem is immortalized, which bears witness to the war in World War II 1939-1945.
Since then, the chapel has become a place of silent prayer for young and old. This is evidenced by numerous panels, wooden boards but also small pieces of paper attached in gratitude for requests and requests from emergencies. So this little chapel is a visible sign of living faith, even in today's fast paced world.
The ravages of time also gnawed at the chapel, so that in June 2013, as part of a "72-hour action" of the diocese of Trier extensive redevelopment work was carried out. Approximately 40 helpers, including mainly young people have done this work.Around the chapel are several benches.

@Doris That's not entirely true. Of course the chapel is always there. Only the nativity scenes on the nativity trail, which begins and ends there, are only set up at Christmas time.
