The Prestelsee is located on the western outskirts of Graben-Neudorf. The lake was created artificially: around 1900 the dredging began. Until the 1960s, the lake was still bathed.
Already in the 1970s it was observed that the self-cleansing forces of the lake are disturbed; there was an increase in water plant growth and the resulting sludge with extinction of fish and plant species.
