Rathenow is an interesting small district town in Havelland and is considered the cradle of the optical industry, because the first industrially manufactured glasses were made here. The city is surrounded by landscape and nature reserves in the area of the lower Havel and in the center of Brandenburg's largest nature park. On the Kirchberg there are small half-timbered houses around the St. Marien-Andreas church. From up here you have a wonderful view of the city and the Havel.
