The Jardines del marquesado de la Quinta Roja (also known as the Victoria Gardens) is a real eye-catcher in the city.
The construction of the gardens with mausoleum was commissioned by the Marchioness of Quinta Roja, Doña Sebastiana del Castillo.
Her son, Diego Ponte del Castillo, had died in April 1880, but because of his relationship with Freemasonry, the diocese did not allow him to be buried in the family pantheon, but in the area of the cemetery designated for non-Catholics. The humiliation this meant for the family prompted the Marchioness to create a garden with a mausoleum in which she would bury her son. Although she was eventually allowed to bury her son in the family pantheon and the mausoleum was never used, it remains a monument to religious intolerance today.

Pretty little park. Reminds me of a mini mini edition of Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe, but without the well-known Hercules in Kassel. Still watch, rest and visit 🤙

This park is absolutely worth seeing, well-kept baroque complex with many water features💦
Entry is free👍
The comparison with Park Wilhelmshöhe is ridiculous...has "Immi" been there before??🧙
