The Mauritius church in Schmitt is about 900 years old. Much is unknown about the church. The edification will probably have fallen into the time when Schmitt belonged to the family of elm.
The church is not only a beautiful sight from the outside, but also from the inside. A wooden pulpit, a marble altarpiece and a marble relief are the first impressions that captivate the church visitor. A wood gallery with z.T. very old turned Holzfeländer and medieval murals above the gallery are surprisingly well preserved.
On the walls there are stations of the cross to replace a crossroads.
On the gallery also a harmonium as an organ replacement!
Worth mentioning is also the old church door!
