Tips

... you don't have to write much about the Kugler Alm: It is a popular destination in the south of Munich. A Bavarian inn (recently renovated) with a terrace and occasional brass music in the beer garden. Food and drinks are delicious. And the Auszog'nen (= lard noodle) are always worth a culinary sin. :-)

Everyone will find a nice place here. On nice weekend days, the beer garden is very busy, as well known. Certainly no insider tip anymore!

Great beer garden, great playground, delicious food (typical beer garden delicacies complemented by a Mediterranean-inspired offer), but priced above average.

The spareribs are fantastic! After the detailed renovations great atmosphere and of course the typical for the Kugler Alm "Auszog'nen" belong to each visit simply!

Extremely popular excursion destination and beer garden in the south of Munich. There are the best "Auszognen" far and wide. Background according to the information board on site:
The Alm goes back to the first beer being served to water and forest workers, at the very beginning of 1895 at a construction hut. The lack of a bar license was circumvented - even then creatively - by founding a "Consum Association". In 1898/1900, Xaver Kugler, who gave it its name, leased / bought the Alm. After "upgrading" to a real inn, the business developed into a popular excursion destination. According to sources in the Munich city archives, the press even spoke of the "largest alpine pasture in the world" in 1930, after a beer and dance hall for 2000 people was built in 1925 and the beer garden was generously expanded. In the decades after Kugler's death in 1935, things got quieter around the Alm. But since 1970 it has been climbing steeply again, and the Kugler Alm is a popular destination for near and far, especially for cyclists because the Alm is conveniently located north-south -Rad-Highway between Giesing and Oberhaching through the beautiful Perlacher Forest.

It was closed during our ride, but from an outside perspective it would definitely be the place to drink a beer (or two). typical Bavarian
