The Kesselberg (75m) is part of a continuous hill range that includes the Lemingsberg, the Begijnenbos and the Chartreuzenbos. There is an orientation table at the edge of the open space. From here you have a beautiful view of Leuven, the Dijle valley, the first hills of the Hageland and the traffic jams on the E314. In clear weather you can see the atomium in Brussels. There is still a quarry where the Hageland iron sandstone was previously quarried for the construction of numerous churches and castles in the region. The oldest Leuven city walls were also built from it.

The Kesselberg is a residual hill with traces of human presence from the Paleolithic and remains of ramparts from a high settlement from the Middle Iron Age.

Together with the Keizersberg in Leuven, the Schoolbergen and the Lemingsberg in Kessel-Lo, it is part of a continuous row of Diestian hills, which is typical for the Hageland. The Kesselberg is largely located on the territory of Kessel-Lo, but extends to the territory of Holsbeek in the north. Three other parallel ridges extend between the Kesselberg and the Demer: the Wijngaardberg in Wezemaal, the Middelberg and the Rotselarenberg in Rotselaar.

The Kesselberg, with a surface area of approximately thirteen hectares, is approximately 300 metres long, approximately 75 metres high and has a flattened shape at the top.
