Cycling
The ruin of Thurant Castle towers over the town of Alken. The so-called spur castle, due to its location on the slope, originated in the 12th century. Excitingly, from the middle of the 13th century, the archbishoprics of Cologne and Trier were joint owners of the complex. Each half therefore had its own keep and was managed by an independent castellan. Especially beautiful are also the vineyards on the sunny side.
