<< Summit cross, Amtstein and Haus Dahl >>
"The summit cross on the watershed between Volme and Lenne is a reminder of the historic long-distance trade route that led through the Böllinger Heath in Dahlermark. The old country road experienced its heyday after the Thirty Years' War. Pig iron and crude steel came along it from the south the Siegerland for processing in the hammer mills of the Bergisch-Marken industrial area.
From the north, carters have been bringing coal from the Ruhr area since the 16th century. It wasn't until 1844 that a road was built down in the Volmetal, the last of the large roads in Westphalia.
The summit cross with an information board is on Rölvede Street, the Amtstein is about 400 m east of it. Both are located on the Böllinger Rundweg, a popular hiking trail with a viewpoint over the city and Volmetal. At the foot of the historic Eisenstrasse, not far from the old Volme Bridge, which is worth seeing, is Haus Dahl, a former manor that was mentioned in documents as early as the 12th century. District Administrator Friedrich Gerstein had Haus Dahl built from 1820 to 1823 in the classicist style on the site of an old moated castle that burned down in 1729.
Next door, in the rooms of the former post office, there has been a small, fine local museum with changing exhibitions since 2009..."
