    This shrine is dedicated to Kuroda Nagamasa, the first lord of the Chikuzen Kuroda clan, and his father Josui.

    The shrine was originally located under the main tower of Fukuoka Castle. In 1871 it was relocated to what is now Kego Park when the Meiji government abolished the old administrative system and established what is now the prefectural system. The temple was later moved to its current location.
