St. Nicholas Church in Middelfart was built in 1200.
It underwent the same development as most other old churches:
Originally in the Romanesque style with round arches, it later evolved into the Gothic style with pointed arches. Initially, the church had a nave and a choir.
The tower was added around 1300, followed somewhat later (around 1400) by the chapel, then the aisle, then the vault, and finally, in 1667, the church's porch.
