This cliff was formed by ice from the ice age, which was pushed up, so to speak. A cliff like this is unique in the flat Dutch landscape! Take a seat on the bench and enjoy the fine view of the water and the surrounding area.

Most of the Dutch coast consists of man-made protection against the water called dikes. Here in Gaasterland, however, you find some so-called 'cliffs' that were pushed up by they ice in the ice-age. They may not look like much, but in flat Friesland, a few meters above sea level is a lot already! There is a nice beach here, where the shallow waters make for a popular beginners kite-surfing spot.
