The town church in Calau was built in the late 14th century. It is a late Gothic brick building. The choir located in the east is five-sided on the outside and three-sided on the inside. The side aisles were drawn around the choir when the church was built. The square west tower is four-sided. It was added to the church in the middle of the 15th century. The tower had a baroque dome until 1945. At the end of the 2nd World War it was destroyed and then the steeple got the pointed helmet. This steeple can still be seen from afar. The church suffered severe damage as a result of the war. The old interior (carved altar, pulpit, organ and stalls) was totally destroyed. In the years that followed, the church was rebuilt and completely renovated after the fall of the Wall. Today a simple altar and a matching pulpit can be seen in the interior. The organ was built in 1954 by the Schuke company.
