The Leubatalsperre is located near the small town of Hohenleuben in the Leubatal. It dams the small river Leuba between the town of Hohenleuben and the present-day Langenwetzendorf districts of Hain and Lunzig (including Kauern) and is considered one of the best-known insider tips in the area.

The dam was built between 1975 and 1982 and put into operation in 1981. It is used to increase low water levels in the lower reaches of the Weida and for fish farming.
