The Blue Gumpe is a great place to take photos. The best time is the morning or the evening. Not only because of the light: the lake is calm at this time, the surface is as smooth as glass. In summer you can hear many songbirds in the morning. The indescribable calm that can be perceived makes you think you are alone somewhere in Canada.

The Blaue Gumpe is the best known of the numerous spring pots in the southern area of the Great Ostersee. Here, calcareous groundwater emerges from the ground, from which the Osterseen are fed. These spring pots were created at the end of the last ice age when dead ice holes filled with water after the glaciers had melted. The funnel-shaped spring pot is clearly visible from a small bridge. This of many other springs in the Osterseen is located in the shore area. You can go directly over this groundwater source via a footbridge. Crystal clear water lets you see down to the bottom. Very beautiful!
